Privacy Policy
- We collect what you give us to run the app: your account, profile, posts, and what you log.
- Your body stats (height, weight, age, sex) and nutrition goals are private. Only you can see them.
- No ads, no ad tracking, and we never sell your data.
- You can delete your account and data at any time in Settings → Delete Account.
This Privacy Policy explains how Lift'd ("we", "us") handles your information when you use the Lift'd app and website at joinliftd.com, including the iPhone app (the "Service"). Please also read our Terms of Use.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account: your email address and password. Passwords are stored securely as a hash by our authentication provider; we can never see them. We also record when you accepted the Terms.
- Profile: name, username, profile photo, bio, location (only if you type one), experience level, and whether your account is private.
- Training and nutrition logs: workouts (exercises, sets, weights, reps, distances), foods you log, and exercises you add yourself.
- Body stats and goals (private): if you choose to add them, your sex, birth year, height, weight, activity level, goal, custom targets, and preferred units. We use these only to calculate your targets.
- Social activity: posts, photos, videos, comments, likes, saved clips, follows and follow requests, friend links, blocks, gyms you join or create, gym chat messages, direct messages, and "training now" check-ins.
- Safety and support: reports you file (and reports about your content), and feedback you send us. Feedback includes your browser or device type so we can fix bugs.
Information collected automatically
- Push notifications: if you turn them on, a push address for your device that lets us deliver alerts. Turning push off deletes it.
- Technical logs: like most online services, our providers keep short-term server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and request times) for security and reliability.
- On your device: the app stores your sign-in session and small preferences (like light or dark mode) on your device. We don't use advertising cookies or third-party analytics.
We don't collect your precise location, contacts, or health data from Apple Health or other apps.
2. Who can see your information
- Other members can see your name, username, photo, bio, experience level, location (if you added one), and follower, following and post counts.
- Posts and comments are visible to signed-in members. If your account is private, only followers you approve see your posts. People you block can't see your profile or posts.
- Direct messages are seen only by you and the person you're messaging. A first message from someone you don't follow waits in Message Requests until you accept it.
- Gym members see the chat, who's checked in to train, and the gym leaderboards (weekly totals only, like total volume, miles, and training-day streaks — not your individual logs).
- Only you see your body stats, nutrition goals, food log, custom exercises, saved items, and blocked list.
- Our moderators can see reported content (including a direct message, if someone reports it) and the reports about it, and feedback you send. We don't otherwise read your direct messages.
3. How we use it
- To run the Service: your account, feed, clips, gyms, chat, leaderboards, notifications, and calculating your stats, PRs, badges, and nutrition targets.
- To keep people safe: filtering profanity, reviewing reports, removing content, and banning accounts that break the rules.
- To support you and improve the app, using feedback you send and error information.
- To send account emails (like confirming your email or resetting your password). We don't send marketing emails without your permission.
- To meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We don't sell your personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or use it to train AI models.
4. Who we share it with
We only share information with service providers that help us run Lift'd, under their own privacy and security commitments:
- Supabase — our database, sign-in, and file storage (servers in the United States).
- GitHub Pages — hosts the joinliftd.com website and web app.
- Google Fonts — delivers the typeface the site uses. Your browser connects to Google to download it.
- Push services (Apple, Google, or Mozilla, depending on your device) — deliver push notifications if you turn them on. They receive only the notification text.
- Email delivery provider — sends account emails like sign-up confirmation and password resets.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety (for example, reporting child exploitation to the authorities), or as part of a business transfer such as a merger. If that happens, this policy will still apply to your information.
5. Keeping and deleting your data
- We keep your information while your account is open.
- Delete Account (Settings → Delete Account) permanently deletes your account, profile, photos, videos, posts, comments, messages, logs, body stats, and follows. Copies may remain in encrypted backups for a short time before they're overwritten.
- You can edit or delete individual posts, comments, messages, foods, and workouts at any time, and change your profile in Settings → Edit Profile.
- We may keep a limited record of bans and reports after deletion, to stop banned users from coming back and to meet legal obligations.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example California, other U.S. states, the UK, or the EU), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or get a copy of your personal information, and to object to or limit how we use it. Most of this you can do yourself in the app. For anything else, email support@joinliftd.com and we'll respond within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
7. Security
Your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and protected by access rules in our database, so each person can only read what they're allowed to see. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
8. Children
Lift'd isn't for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email us and we'll delete it. Members aged 13–17 need a parent or guardian's permission to use Lift'd.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes, we'll let you know in the app or on this page before they take effect, and update the date at the top.
